BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — The Battle Creek City Commission will vote Tuesday whether to approve a $737,300 contract for body-worn cameras for the Battle Creek Police Department.

The quick actions of a pair of Weld County sheriff’s deputies likely saved a man’s life last week, as the efforts were captured on new department-issued body cameras.

IMPD’s East District was the first to roll out the city's new body cams, and after 11 days, Commander Richard Riddle said “so far, so good.”

Indianapolis police announced Monday the phased rollout of body camera for 1,100 officers on its force, beginning with the department's busiest East District. The move comes after years of pilot studies and officer-involved shootings.
